Snoop Dogg has officially sealed his 1993 murder charge after following the necessary legal steps to put his troubled past behind him.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, the legendary rapper filed a petition in January 2024 to have his arrest record sealed from his 1993 murder case. A judge granted the request, and the documents were then sealed a month after in February.
A nonprofit California-based company by Ceasar McDowell, “Unite the People”, which aims at fighting for social justice and providing assistance to the community, aided in sealing the legendary rapper’s record.
McDowell, who is a “formerly incarcerated person, has dedicated his life to promoting social justice and helping disadvantaged communities”, as per the group’s website.
The murder case which was big news at the time, was heavily discussed in public domain so much so that it captivated the nation and eventually changed the trajectory of Snoop’s career.
Snoop Dogg was on the uprising in his career as a youngster when he got arrested after his performance of “Murder Was The Case” at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards.
The song was inspired by the allegations that Snoop and his bodyguard were involved in a fatal shooting of a man in an LA park earlier that year.
Snoop’s reaction to the verdict went on to become a cultural moment, and propelled him further into the spotlight, eventually solidifying his status as a trailblazing figure in the music industry.
Today, it is evident Snoop Dogg has left a lasting impact as one of the most iconic rappers in history, and during the 2024 Paris Olympics, he showed what he had to offer to the world in style, with reports indicating that he earned $9 million from various appearances.
On Instagram, Snoop shared a video that highlighted his activities in Paris, with the caption: “This is the main star of the Paris Olympics. Snoop Dogg, a top rapper, gets over 40 million rubles daily for his presence at the Paris Olympic Games.”
The video then continued, and stated that Snoop Dogg attended other major events, while featuring in numerous broadcasts.
With the 1993 case now fully behind him, Snoop Dogg is expected to play a key role in his upcoming collaboration with Dr. Dre on the “Missionary” album, which is set to be released in November to delight many fans over the world.
