Victor Wembanyama, a rookie for the San Antonio Spurs, has become the newest brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton.
The organization wrote, “Striving for excellence and with a perpetual honing of craft, Victor joins Louis Vuitton on a journey of shared values and aligned ambitions. Like Louis Vuitton himself, the young athlete has blazed a trail, excelling in a career that is only just beginning.”
The 20-year-old NBA player told GQ, “I think it was well worth it, because it’s definitely the best suit of this year’s draft, and also the past years, in my opinion was just beautiful. And now it’s all coming together,” describing the Louis Vuitton suit he wore to the 2023 NBA draft, a dark green ensemble, which was generally well received.
Wembanyama’s role as the “Next Big Thing” in the NBA is further cemented by this agreement, according to Bleacher’s Report.
According to the publication, Wembanyama has the greatest chance of succeeding LeBron James as the NBA’s future face, at least going forward.
The burgeoning athlete expressed, “I wanted a meaningful partnership. To me it made a lot of sense to partner with LV—you know, French excellence. The expertise is something that I feel very much attracted to.”
He continued, “I mean, back in the day, I couldn’t even imagine partnering with LV one day. It would’ve been crazy. I don’t even know about other countries, but in France it’s huge. It’s the biggest brand for young people.”
Wembanyama, who is from the western Parisian suburb of Le Chesnay, started playing for his hometown team, Nanterre 92 before becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft for the San Antonio Spurs. Wembanyama went on to win several titles within his first season with the Spurs including Best Young Player of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and Leading Scorer.
