LSU basketball player Angel Reese recently showed her appreciation to her former high school, St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, by making a generous donation of $12,000 to help cover the tuition and fees of a player on the school’s girls’ basketball team.
This act highlights Reese’s desire to give back to her alma mater and help other young athletes pursue their basketball dreams while receiving an education.
Her mother, who coincidentally shares the same name, took to Twitter, now X, to share a post about her daughter’s donation. According to Reese’s mother, the LSU star herself received a similar donation during her four years at St. Frances Academy, which greatly benefited her.
“Today @Reese10Angel donated 12k to @SFA1828 to cover the tuition expenses of a @LadyPantherBbal this coming school year. This is the same fund that covered Angel’s tuition all 4 years as a student at SFA,” Reese’s mother wrote.
During her final year at St. Frances Academy, Reese was already an exceptional player and ranked among the top five recruits in the class of 2020. This group included other talented basketball stars like Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark, and Hailey Van Lith, according to her website.
After an outstanding performance as the Most Outstanding Player in the Women’s Final Four this year, Reese’s estimated value under the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) evaluation experienced a significant surge, exceeding $1 million.
This boost in value was primarily a result of securing multiple endorsement deals and becoming one of the first seven college athletes to sign an agreement with ZOA, an energy drink launched by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This endorsement deal further elevated Reese’s marketability and highlighted her status as a prominent athlete.
In a recent announcement, the basketball champion unveiled the establishment of the Angel C. Reese Foundation. The foundation’s primary objective is to empower girls and women through various initiatives, including sports, education, financial literacy, and more.
The foundation will offer girls’ basketball camps, promote financial literacy, provide scholarships, organize holiday celebrations, and engage in ongoing community programming.
Through these endeavors, Reese aims to make a positive impact on the lives of girls and women, fostering their personal growth, development, and empowerment.
