Netizens have praised SZA for supporting her statements about children using drugs with actions. The 35-year-old singer posted on Instagram Stories that she stopped a child from doing whippets in exchange for a photo or video.

“Literally talked a child into throwing away his whippet drugs in exchange for a picture/video at the in-n-out drive through,” she said in the post, which featured an image of a can of nitrous oxide with a strawberry-banana flavor label that seemed to be from the brand SuperWhip. “Sad but if I can stop this s— for even a second imma try.”
She added, “Once again, these drugs are clearly marketed to CHILDREN. Really need America to do better man.”
According to People, this isn’t the first time SZA has expressed concern about the effects of nitrous oxide. In September 2024, she shared a post on X alongside a screenshot of search results for its long-term effects.
“Sorry to be old n annoying but.. Is no one gonna talk about how galaxy gas came out of no where and is being MASS marketed to black children? The government is doing NOTHING ? .. since when are we selling whip its at the store ???? Somebody protect the children,” she wrote at the time.
Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health warns that “prolonged use of nitrous oxide can have disabling” neurological problems and conditions, such as vitamin B12 insufficiency. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a lack of vitamin B12 can “cause physical, neurological, and psychological symptoms.”
As per Billboard, SZA is now traveling as part of her and Kendrick Lamar’s Grand National Tour, which will be stopping at SoFi Stadium for three performances in K. Dot’s home state of California.
