A single mom in Texas, Rose Anderson, has been accused of zip-tying and duct-taping a 7-year-old relative, then locking her in a cage under a Christmas tree as punishment for her school behavior.
According to court documents obtained by ABC 13, Anderson kicked the girl and left her for hours without food, water, or a bathroom, forcing the child to urinate on herself. The court documents stated that Anderson locked the girl as “discipline” for “her behavior at school”.
The girl was eventually freed, but Anderson now faces a felony charge of unlawful restraint.
She is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $10,000 bond after an initial hearing on Sunday. She is likely to spend the holidays in jail.
Anderson has been described as a single mom working three jobs.
“It was strange to me,” Lonnie Hatchet, a neighbor, said of the accusations.
“What happened to time out? Take away one of the Christmas gifts, but not the dog cage — come on!”
