McKissack & McKissack (1905)
McKissack is the oldest minority-owned professional architecture, design, and construction company in the United States. The firm was founded in 1905 in Tennessee by Moses McKissack III, the grandson of a West African slave. The company started initially as a sole business, but in 1922, Moses McKissack III teamed up with his brother Calvin Lunsford McKissack to form the McKissack & McKissack partnership. McKissack has constructed numerous building projects, including Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and Bronx County Civil Supreme Courthouse.
