Democratic Republic of Congo
According to CNN, the U.N. has labeled the DRC, Africa’s second largest country, as the “rape capital of the world” because of the use of rape as a weapon of war. For the past 12 years, the country has been in conflict and is now the world’s number two most neglected crises area. In 2018 alone, 3.1 million people were displaced due to the war with hundreds of thousands of them crossing over Uganda via Lake Albert. Although the country has enjoyed a generous amount of support from the international front, it had been largely neglected after the impossibility of resolving its own issues as the end of one conflict makes the beginning of another.
