Pondei’s was the most recent case of a Nigerian official collapsing while facing a legislative inquiry over embezzlement of funds to the tune of $100 million.

An acting managing director of Nigeria‘s Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Pondei slowly sunk into unconsciousness in his chair in July right when he was having problems explaining to senators how the said amount could not be accounted for.

The hearing was then rescheduled. Pondei’s office released a statement that he had been unwell for prior to the hearing.
