Dino Melaye
While a senator, Dino Melaye was arraigned before a court in 2018 on criminal charges of criminal conspiracy, causing damage to government property, attempted suicide and escape from lawful custody. To the surprise of all and the court, Melaye appeared in court on a stretcher.
According to the senator’s attorneys, Melaye was hit with sudden ill-health on the eve of the court hearing making it virtually impossible for him to be present. Melaye would later appear again in court in a wheelchair.
