Ida Keeling
The 103-year-old world-record-holding runner grew up during the Great Depression, was a civil rights movement leader and raised four children on her own.
After her two sons were brutally killed in her 60s, she was advised to take up running as this could offer her some solace.
At the age of 67, Keeling entered her first race, set a second world record at 95 and became the first woman in history to complete a 100-meter run when she was 100.
This February, she set another world record in the 60-meter dash event at the Imperial Dade Track Classic with a remarkable race time of 58:34 in the 100 to 104 age group.
In a recent interview, Keeling said that what keeps her strong is exercising and eating healthy foods like cereal, fruits and greens.
