Nigeria gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1963, and it came with pride in status and challenges of self-government.

Independence also brought about the emergence of black businessmen who flourished on cottage industries which is the early stage of every economy. There’s nowhere the African business was doing better than in Nigeria -black Africa’s most populous country. 

With an economy that grows 4% each year, the number of Nigerian millionaires is growing almost as fast as the country itself, said one report.

Before independence, it was said to have a flourishing trade – exportation of cotton, palm kernels, and cocoa and the importation of goods such as tobacco and many others. Hence in this article, Face2Face Africa looks at five super-rich Nigerians of the independence era.
