This black-owned beauty store in Nashville made $50k in 3 hours of grand opening [VIDEO]

Praises have been pouring in from all corners for Sam Tisdale, the owner of Roots Hair & Beauty whose company recently became the first black-owned beauty supply store in Nashville, Tennessee and also grossed $50,000 on its grand opening.

Until now, Nashville did not have a beauty store that will cater to the needs of women of colour. Thanks to Tisdale, black people in this community can have access to hair products, cosmetics, and fashion that suit them.

“We are proud to be the first, and hopefully we won’t be the last,” Tisdale said.

At the grand opening of the store last week, local media reports that hundreds of people from Nashville’s black community came out in their numbers to support their first black beauty-owned store, defying the bad weather.

Within the first three hours, these customers had helped the beauty company to generate an estimated $50,000 in sales.

Roots Hair & Beauty company already has two locations in Chattanooga, Tennessee, specializing in all categories in beauty supply like 100% human hair bundles, quick weaves, branded hair weaves, crochet braiding, natural hair products, and so on.

Their latest feat follows the likes of other black beauty brands that are making an impact. Black women spend an estimated $7.5 billion annually on beauty products, which is 80% more than their non-black counterparts, according to research from Essence.

Historically, beauty brands had ignored women of colour despite their huge influence on the industry.

Most beauty brands such as Iman, Fenty Beauty, Black/Opal, among others are now showing an interest in women of colour, creating products that work well on all skin tones. They are making chunks of money out of this and attracting lots of fans and customers.
