This Senegalese woman is new spokesperson for the French government

Ahead of the European Parliament elections in May, French president Emmanuel Macron has appointed what France 29has described as his close allies in new positions in an uunforeseen cabinet reshuffle.

All under the age of 40, he demonstrates his belief in a younger generation capable of leading the country. Macron has filled the positions of government spokesperson, Digital Affairs Minister and Junior Minister for European Affairs.

Among the three new appointees is 39-year-old Senegalese woman Sibeth Ndiaye who has been appointed as the new Government Spokesperson after taking over the position from Benjamin Griveaux, whose resignation last week came ahead of a run for Paris mayor next year.

Born and raised in Senegal to politician parents, Sibeth only moved to Paris to further her university studies. While in the University, she became a student activist and joined the Socialist Party in 2002.

Sibeth becomes the Government Spokesperson barely three years after gaining her French citizenship in 2016 while she worked as a communications advisor for Macron’s presidential campaign.

More recently, Sibeth worked as Macron’s communications advisor before taking her new position.

Her addition to the government once again demonstrates Macron’s belief in creating diversity .

Sibeth and Macron’s close relationship has been in the political eye following her loyalty to him and his respect for her work.
