Tiffany Haddish took the stage at the iconic Laugh Factory on Thanksgiving, marking a year since her arrest for a suspected DUI following her performance at the same venue. The 44-year-old comedian didn’t shy away from addressing her past, using humor to reflect on her legal troubles.
“I’m so happy to see all of y’all. I’m not in jail today, and I will not be tomorrow. But, I mean, if you’re gonna go to jail, Beverly Hills is the best place to go,” Haddish joked to the audience. She continued, “We’ve all been in jails a few times. Like, I’ve been in a long jail center. Let me tell you, it’s nothing like the Beverly Hills police.”
Haddish was performing at the Laugh Factory’s 45th annual free Thanksgiving feast, an event providing meals and live performances for community members in need. This year, the lineup included Haddish, singer Tom Dreesen, and radio personality Frazer Smith.
The “Girls Trip” star’s comments come nearly a year after her November 2022 arrest in Beverly Hills. She was found asleep behind the wheel of her running car in the middle of Beverly Drive. In February, Haddish accepted a plea deal, resolving the case with a reckless driving conviction. Her attorney, Alex Spiro, told Rolling Stone that she looks forward to putting the incident behind her.

Reflecting on the arrest, Haddish expressed gratitude for the professionalism of the Beverly Hills police and vowed to seek help. “This will never happen again,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries.”
This wasn’t Haddish’s first run-in with DUI allegations. In January 2022, she faced a similar arrest in Peachtree City, Georgia, where officers suspected she had been smoking marijuana. Addressing that incident on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Haddish quipped, “I’ve been praying to God to send me a new man. A good man. And God went ahead and sent me four. In uniform.”
Haddish, who split from rapper Common in late 2021, continues to tackle life’s challenges with her signature humor and determination, turning personal struggles into moments of levity and reflection.
