Marcus Garvey
Marcus Garvey was a political leader and activist who played a significant role in the Pan-African movement. Born in St. Ann’s Bay, Jamaica, in 1887, Garvey founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and advocated for the liberation and empowerment of people of African descent worldwide. His teachings on self-reliance, pride, and self-determination inspired a generation of Black activists and leaders, including Malcolm X and Nelson Mandela.
