One of the easiest African languages to learn is Yoruba. Most of the people who speak Yoruba live in Nigeria, Benin, and Togo.

However, there are also a number of speakers in other countries. Yorùbá is one of the many African languages that you are most likely to hear people speak in the buses and the underground trains in UK and US.

Yoruba is one of West Africa’s most spoken languages with over 40 million people in the world estimated to speak Yoruba as a first language.

It is the mother tongue of the Yoruba people in Nigeria, and has over 15 dialects including Awori, Ijesha, Ilaje and Ila.

To say hello in Yoruba, one says “Bawo”.
