Ranking third, there were 24 black homicide victims in West Virginia in 2016. The homicide rate among black victims was 36.86 per 100,000 that year. Out of 24 homicide victims, 21 were male and 3 were female while the average age of victims was 26 years old. 100 percent of victims (20 out of 20) were shot and killed with guns with 67 percent of victims (6 out of 9) being killed by someone they knew.
