Ethiopia
A critical study of the African countries prone to earthquakes shows that Ethiopia could possibly record Africa’s most serious earthquakes. Earthquakes in Ethiopia range from strong to catastrophic and a large part of the country is at risk of experiencing catastrophic earthquakes. In 1961, Ethiopia recording its strongest earthquake hitting 6.5 on the Richter scale resulting in more than 30 deaths. The lowest earthquake magnitude in Ethiopia is recorded at 5.1. The country experiences several earth tremors every year.
