Afrishionistas rejoice! Versace will collaborate with H&M to bring you affordable, high-end fashion this November.
Only 300 stores (including the soon to be launched online store) will carry the designs that Versace's creative director, Donatella Versace, has created exclusively for its customers.
Donatella Versace, who created a fashion frenzy when she took a bow at her Milan’s Menswear Spring 2012 show, wore a black leather gold-studded sleeveless dress from the upcoming Versace for H&M line. She shared the same excitement as F2FA Fashion readers. Versace stated:
"I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience," she said. "The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
Versace also said to expect to see inspirations from the brand's iconic 1980s archive. Leather, the signature Medusa Versace logo, will be used with fitted silhouettes and gold studs, adding a glamorous rock n’ roll flair to the collection. The collection will be priced at an affordable H&M price range. Versace has also announced plans to launch a pre-Spring 2012 collection for H&M, available January 12.
Versace, one of the world’s premier fashion brand founded by the late Gianni Versace, will follow suit in being a success at H&M. Versace will join in the ranks of H&M’s high-end collaborations with designers like Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo and Matthew Williamson.
The F2FA fashion team is eager to see which models Donatella Versace will select for the print AD campaign. We have in mind Liya Kebede, L’Oreal Paris’ new brand face, Sudanese model and F2FA Look of the Week recipient, Ajak Deng, and Louis Vuitton’s current brand face, Zimbabwean model, Nyasha Matonhodze.
Afrishionistas, mark your calendars for November 17 to get your first glimpse at Versace for H&M!
