Since March 2018, the name Virgil Abloh has been keenly followed in the fashion industry. The Ghanaian-American became the centre of attention when he was named Louis Vuitton’s new artistic director and gave big fashion labels a run for their money with the release of Off White, the streetwear and luxury fashion label that brought an edgy twist into the fashion game.

The successful designer and creative director is taking bigger strides this year as he launches his own exclusive label starting with a jewelry line. A collection of jewelry that was inspired by nothing other than paper clips.

Virgil took to Instagram to share with his 3.2 million followers an image of his latest creation. The picture had no caption but seemed to capture the attention of over 150 thousand who liked the picture. Shortly after, he shared another image of himself, this time wearing his latest designs.

Virgil’s pure creative skills come in full display with his jewelry line made from paper clips. Speaking to Elle magazine, he said: “It’s a necklace, there’s earrings, there’s an accessory. The idea is like high jewellery for all. It’s a crash — it’s a paper clip, but it’s also pavé diamonds made in a very specific way.”

It is no news that one of the designer’s main aims is to create a fashion label that feels luxurious but yet affordable to anyone who is attracted to the very different and edgy designs. Virgil has worked with top names such as Kanye West and Serena Williams and several other huge fashion labels.

The very anticipated line which took three years to make will be launched from January 17 to 29 at a Hôtel Costes pop-up store which will also feature new trainer and handbag designs for Off-White and some of his favorite flowers.

While the line comes in as a surprise, fashion enthusiasts and critics are silently waiting for the fashion line that Virgil spoke about in 2018 which is inspired by the legendary Micheal Jackson.
