These bags have been all over the place, from our favourite celebrities to the girl next door. All the famous fashion houses have revealed theirs and are selling out fast. We are talking about nothing but the waist bag aka fanny pack/ belt bag. And to think these handy bags were once relegated to the tourists and soccer moms only a few months ago?
A walk down memory lane takes us to the possible origin of the primitive cavemen with waist bags which carried bone and stone tools for hunting. Also, European skiers were known to have worn bags around their waists to keep their goggles and any other important things which they called the stomach bags. Then came the chatelaine bags worn by women in the Victorian and Edwardian times.

It then came in vogue in the 90’s and was worn worldwide. The convenience and portability of the bags, especially when wearing outfits with no pockets, made them a tourist’s favourite to keep their cameras and vanities while sight-seeing. They were still popular among moms and sportsmen.
They made a return recently and are featured with sleeker and bespoke designs just for the trendy individual out there. Below, we highlight some ways the waist bag has been styled on its grand return.

Some are getting creative with the trend and wearing them as actual belts, across the shoulder, among others. After all, fashion is the clothes and style is the way you choose to express it. Have a field day wearing it however you choose.
