1. Don’t come on time, especially for the traditional wedding.
Unless you like sitting around for no reason or you are close enough to the bridesmaids to chill with them while they get dressed. Nigerian time is slower for traditional weddings for some reason. I remember my cousin kept emphasizing that the wedding starts at 11 and all of us should start heading over by 8 (I was in the house most of the bridesmaids were staying in).
The rest of my family was saying they would leave around 12 or 1. I thought maybe they didn’t know the starting time.
They knew better.
So make sure you come two to three hours late (I wish I was joking). Or better yet, have the number of one of the bridesmaids. For some reason, this same tardiness rule doesn’t apply for the white wedding — be on time for that one, especially the church part.
