Mariah Carey canceled her Pittsburgh concert on Wednesday, December 11, just hours before she was set to perform. The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer, 55, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that she had come down with the flu.
“Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu,” she wrote. “It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.”
Carey was scheduled to perform at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena as part of her Christmas Time tour, according to PEOPLE.
TicketMaster confirmed the cancellation and announced that ticket holders will receive a full refund.
Carey’s next show is set for Friday, December 13, at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., but it is uncertain if she will be able to perform. The Pittsburgh concert has not been rescheduled.
She canceled her Pittsburgh concert shortly after her holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returned to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
At her Raleigh, N.C., show on December 9, Carey’s 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, celebrated the achievement by surprising her with flowers.
Carey shared the heartwarming moment on Instagram.
“Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that All I Want For Christmas Is You returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100,” she wrote. “I couldn’t have dreamed of a better time or place to celebrate the news than on stage with my amazing fans, my kids and my #Christmastime tour family. I love you and am so grateful to you all ❤️❤️❤️ M.”
