Tamyrihu Hubbard, 24, was arrested last week after allegedly shooting and killing her 23-year-old boyfriend. The incident happened after the Marrero woman and her boyfriend, Joshua Jones, got into a fight over breakfast, according to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities report that at around 10:36 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 100 block of East Lakeview Drive in LaPlace.

Hubbard contacted 911 and stated that she had shot her boyfriend, Jones, in the chest.

Deputies discovered Jones unconscious and injured from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead on the spot.

Hubbard explained to authorities that before the confrontation, she and Jones were quarreling about the breakfast food.

As reported by The Times-Picayune, Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre stated that the breakfast argument began when Hubbard ate a lot of food and left little for Jones to eat.

The couple was apparently on a strict budget. Hubbard reportedly shot Jones with one of his own guns. Tregre said Hubbard informed deputies the gunshot was an accident.

The sheriff, however, said, “We have physical evidence that tells us differently.”

Hubbard has been charged with second-degree murder.

She was arrested without incident and placed into the local parish jail on a $1 million bond.
