Woman whose tax company grossed $1.5M in just three months to provide franchise opportunities

Dr. Shawanda S. Moore is the founder of Royal Financial Services and serves as its CEO. She is passionate about financial services, including Individual Tax Preparation, Business Tax Preparation, Business Coaching, Growth Analysis and Strategies for finances, Financial Literacy, and more.

Moore was running her tax firm with her son, Shaun Moore, who was unfortunately killed in New Orleans on September 29, 2020, following a violent incident. He was only 21.

She initially wanted to give up everything because her son was not only a business partner but also made her feel like the best mother in the world. Despite being heavy with grief, Moore decided to complete her son’s unfinished goals in order to help keep his memory alive.

Affectionately called The Tax Doctor, Moore single-handedly worked and coached her team to their most successful year, Black Business reported in May 2022. She achieved this success by implementing new strategies, procedures, and policies to reflect growth in the company, the entrepreneur and business coach said. According to Black Business, her tax firm grossed $1.5 million in three months. Moore also guided her software partners to grow their tax business.

She will now begin offering franchise opportunities for Royal Financial Services in May this year. She has launched a tax preparation curriculum for aspiring entrepreneurs that includes a textbook, a workbook, and hands-on teaching for her students, Black News reported.

Her Tax Preparation curriculum is embedded into a course that is an 8-week program held twice weekly via Zoom in the evening to enable those who have day jobs to join. She has so far had over 30 individuals from across the United States enroll in her course. Those who completed the program received help and guidance from Moore to start their own tax business. She offered them copies of her tax software.

Besides coaching, she is an author. She has authored books like “Introduction to Tax Preparation”, “The Tax Doctor Saves Christmas”, “Budgeting and Saving with the Tax Doctor”, “Starting a Business with the Tax Doctor”, and “Small Business Records.” Her first book “Introduction to Tax Preparation” was launched in August 2021 to help people understand the tax process and start their own tax businesses. Moore ordered 200 books and all sold out within just a few days.
