Zahara Jolie, daughter of Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, made her family proud as she was sworn in as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., on the campus of Spelman College.
Angelina Jolie and her sons, 22-year-old Maddox and 19-year-old Pax, flew down to Atlanta to celebrate the 18-year-old’s big moment.
A source close to Angelina Jolie told Essence, “Angie is very proud of Zahara. She is impressed by her choice to work hard, her interest in service and her wish to join the AKA sisterhood – one of the many impressive HCBU sororities. It meant so much to Angie and Zahara’s siblings to be there to support her, and to congratulate all the other girls.”
The mother-of-six was photographed with Zahara, Maddox, and Pax at an event where the new members of the Mu Pi Chapter were presented.
Jacqueline Walters, a proud AKA, was the keynote speaker, which she claimed was a highlight of her day, as well as welcoming “these intelligent, articulate and amazing 50 new sorors!”
The source close to Angelina Jolie also disclosed that Zahara worked for months to be a part of the organization.
She shared that service means a great deal to the 18-year-old, and that is what she is most looking forward to as an AKA. The source also shared that while attending Spelman and amid her efforts to become an AKA, she was able to maintain her grades, finding time to volunteer and work as an RA, too.
Zahara began her undergraduate studies at the historically black liberal arts college for women in 2022 and is already making an impact.
According to Bck, Zahara has mostly maintained a low profile since her adoption in 2005, though she belongs to one of Hollywood’s most prominent families after being adopted by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
She was originally born in Awasa, Ethiopia, and became Angelina Jolie’s first adopted daughter of a multicultural family at just six months old, making her the third of six children Angelina Jolie mothers.
Angelina Jolie and Pitt were together from 2005 until their separation in 2016; their custody battle is ongoing.
During the sorority introduction recently, Zahara shouted, “Zahara Marley Jolie,” dropping Pitt from her last name, Page Six reported. Fans believe the 18-year-old was throwing shade at her father.
