Nigeria and Cameroon have signed a series of agreements to strengthen trade and commerce relations between the neighboring countries. The agreements also included cooperation in the areas of science and technology, cultural exchanges, and youth development.

According All Africa, “The communiqué issued at the end of the XI session of the joint commission between Nigeria and Cameroon held in Yaounde, Cameroon, the agreements were necessary in order to strengthen the ongoing cooperation between the two sisterly countries and reinforce the platform of the joint commission between the two countries.”
Dr. Nurudeen Muhammed, minister of foreign affairs of Nigeria and Prof. Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, minister of external relations of Cameroon, led the meeting.
In order to execute the various agreements, the leaders have decided to create a committee of top senior officials from both countries to implement the revised and existing agreements.
The revised trade agreement comes at an important time with both nations preparing the Enuga-Bamenda road with the purpose of increasing trade. Also with Nigeria now becoming the largest economy in Africa with a population of 170 million, there is a large opportunity for financial growth and development.
