Touted as one of the most exciting and dramatic seasons in history, the English football Premier League ended on Sunday with Manchester City coming up tops after a 4 -1 win over Brighton to secure their second consecutive title.

The two-horse title race with rivals Liverpool, which also saw them winning on the final day ended with Manchester City finishing with 98 points and former with 97.

The race for the Golden Boot, which was also competitive, saw three African players making history as the league’s joint top scorers. Liverpool duo Mohammed Salah (Egypt) and Sadio Mane (Senegal), as well as Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon), finished the season with 22 goals each.

The trio wrote their names in the history books as they became the first players since 1998/99 to share the Golden Boot in the English Premier League.

Taking to his Twitter, Aubameyang expressed his pride in sharing the prestigious accolade with his African brothers.

The football season is, however, not all but over for Liverpool and Arsenal as the former faces Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final on June 1 in Madrid and the latter battling it out against Chelsea in the Europa League final in Baku on May 29.

Take a look at some of the congratulatory messages and reactions to the trio’s achievement below:
