5 popular African Americans you didn’t know were born on July 4th

by Novieku Babatunde Adeola, 1:00pm July 04, 2019,

Believed to be the country with the most influence in the world, the United States of America commemorates July 4, 1776, as its declaration of independence. On this day, the continental congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free and independent.

This day, like every other independence celebrated across the globe, is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, family reunion and political speeches. In addition to various other public and private events celebrating the day, it is a national day in the United States.

This day calls for sober reflections on the struggles of the black race to end apartheid, celebrating the major players in the struggle against racism as well as celebrating the successes of the black community in making America the greatest country on earth.

In doing so, Face2Face Africa brings you a compilation of popular African Americans born on this day.
