Whilst crossing the road near Shrub Hill Retail Park on Monday, a white man threw eggs at the face of her baby, BBC reports.
Although the mother didn’t sustain any injury, the child’s face turned red.
“We’re particularly concerned that the motivation for this is believed to be racial – there is no excuse for this type of behaviour and we will not tolerate it”, Sergeant Paul Smith told the Independent.
West Mercia Police said CCTV footage is being reviewed to try to identify the vehicle involved, adding that no arrest has been made as investigations are ongoing.
Persons who may have seen anything suspicious or who were around at the time of the incident have been asked to reach the West Mercia Police.
Black Africans are most likely to experience racism around the world and there have been a few of these incidents involving children.
In March 2009, www.thejournal published the story of a pregnant woman and a child who became victims of racist attacks in Ireland.
Similarly, in July this year, the Irish Times reported an alleged racist attack in which the bedroom window of a baby girl was smashed with an iron bar.
The baby was only seven weeks old at the time of the incident.
Two years prior, a 34-year-old pregnant woman lost her child after being kicked in the stomach in a racist attack while shopping in a branch of the Co-op in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire.
The woman was reportedly subjected to racial abuse from a man who followed her to her car and kicked her in the stomach.
These are just a handful of run-ins and encounters African Americans trying so hard to mind their business have had with racist white people over the years.
