At sixteen years old, Sydney-Marie Flowers is another teen who’s on her way to becoming a licensed private pilot.
Flowers is yet to get a driver’s license but she already has a student pilot certificate.
“I was blessed with a full-ride scholarship to Tuskegee Alabama to earn my solo pilot license. A very rigorous camp but also very fun. I met so many cool people and had a cadre,” flowers wrote on her Instagram.

The Cleveland native took her first solo flight in Tuskegee, Alabama, on the same field where the Tuskegee Airman trained in World War II.
“My team and I were the first to train on the moton field since the Tuskegee airmen in (World War 2 “1941). Honestly, I thought I ran out of tears but as I’m writing this they’re running down my face,” Flowers said.
Marie-Lynn Ogletree, Flowers’s mum watched her daughter during her solo flight with tears in her eyes. “I am extremely proud of my daughter. She made goals and she’s pretty much aced every goal,” Ogletree said.
She was reportedly named a top student at the local aviation camp she attended. Afterward, she was selected to attend a national camp in Tuskegee via the sponsorship of the U.S. Air Force.
Flowers, who is already a dancer, actress, model and entrepreneur said she is proud to be a Tuskegee airwoman and solo pilot.
Acknowledging her mum, she said: “I am beyond blessed for this opportunity thank you so much, mommy, none of this would have been possible without you at all”
