Deadly Explosions at One of Nigeria’s Biggest Mosques Kill Many

Screen Shot 2014-11-28 at 11.17.59 AMThe BBC has reported deadly bomb explosions at the Central Mosque in Kano, Nigeria that has killed several people. The number of deaths have not yet been determined, however an eyewitness told the BBC that he had counted 50 bodies.

As Friday is the day of prayer for Muslims, many people are expected to be at the mosque.

The Central Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in Nigeria and is where the influential Muslim leader, the Emir of Kano, leads prayers.

The Emir, Muhammad Sanusi, is currently in Saudi Aabia, however he recently warned people to arm themselves against Boko Haram, the militant group that has reportedly killed more than 2000 people this year.
