Authorities in Chicago have arrested a 37-year-old woman in connection with the fatal shooting of her 12-year-old son on Saturday. According to NBC Chicago, the suspect, identified as Fallon Harris, faces a first-degree murder charge for allegedly killing her son Kaden Ingram.
Police said the incident occurred at the suspect’s home. And the shooting stemmed from Harris confronting Ingram at gunpoint over the whereabouts of a memory card she had taken out of her car the day before.
Police said Harris shot Kaden after he told her the memory card wasn’t in his possession. And though the minor remained conscious following the shooting, police said his mother returned to where he was and shot him again, ABC7 reported. Ingram succumbed to his injuries.

In the aftermath of the incident, the victim’s father, Lavell Ingram, said he was left hurt by his death. “It hurts. It is hard to describe,” he said. Ingram added Kaden “was the joy of my life.”
“He was everything a father could want in a child.”
Relatives also said Harris was struggling with mental health problems and she had even seen a therapist a day prior to the shooting. “His mom is a loving mom. She loved him more than she loved anything in the world,” Ingram said.
The victim’s family also said mental health should be at the forefront of the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. “People need to know that mental illness is real,” Ingram added.
Harris is currently being held without bail, NBC Chicago reported. A judge has also ordered a health evaluation on her.
