Timothy Simpkins, the 18-year-old student who allegedly opened fire and injured four people during a fight at his high school on October 6, was recently arrested again for violating his bond conditions.
According to KDFW, Simpkins was re-arrested on December 23 after he reportedly failed a drug–alcohol test. Simpkins was initially arrested in October following the shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington. He was, however, later released on bond.
The incident at the Timberview High School occurred after Simpkins reportedly got into a fight with another student. Police said the teen suspect fired a number of shots during the physical altercation. The school was subsequently placed on lockdown, and students and staff were locked in their classrooms as well as offices. Simpkins took off in a car following the incident, Face2Face Africa reported.
The 15-year-old student Simpkins was fighting with was critically injured. He, however, survived. A bullet also grazed another student while a teacher was hit. Police said a pregnant teacher also sustained an injury during the confusion.
Following the shooting, the alleged shooter’s family claimed he got into the fight because he was being bullied. But the Arlington police chief said he doesn’t think the shooting stemmed from the alleged bullying, KDFW reported.
Simpkins is facing three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
