Meet 17-year-old author Terrence Fagan Jr. He is the founder of the online freelance platform MyExpertHub.com. Terrence, who completed college before he graduated high school, is reportedly the youngest founder of an online freelance platform.

According to Black News, MyExpertHub.com connects businesses to freelancers who get their digital products and services done. Terrence teamed up with his mom, Sophia Davis-Fagan, to launch the online platform.

For Sophia, if there was one thing the pandemic has taught the world, it is the fact that things cannot be business as usual and people must start to explore their hidden talents.

Sophia shared with Black News that, “many people had to pivot quickly and utilize the hidden skills they had online as freelancers. Now many of them (freelancers) realize that they can freelance and generate incomes for their families, all whilst doing it on their own terms.”

On the platform, freelancers can create an account and once the registration process is complete, they immediately start getting digital products and services done to help entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.

Founding MyExpertHub, for Terrence, was a way to change the status quo for many Black people in building successful businesses and creating generational wealth. Reports suggest that the freelancing industry grew to $1.2 trillion in 2020, a 22% increase over 2019.

Aside from running MyExpertHub, Terrence is also is a successful author. He authored the book Youths Empowered For Success: Take The Right Action Today For Your Success Tomorrow. He has authored numerous journals and action planners.

Terrence’s ambition to create solutions started when he was only 15 years old. Then, he launched ‘Youth Empowerment Podcast’ of which he’s the host and the annual summit ‘Youth Empowerment And Business Summit’.

He also created the Affirmation And Learning Playing Cards which is said to be the first of its kind that assists kids to build their self-esteem as they have fun playing a game of cards.

Terrence, who described himself as a sheltered child, was born in Chicago, Illinois. His parents took him to live in their home country Jamaica for a while. While in Jamaica, he went to private school where he got involved in many different activities including track and field, which he still does today. From Jamaica, he came back home to the USA and also lived in Canada for some years.

His entrepreneurial journey started at 12 years old when his mom took him to his very first self-development conference in Canada, he told VoyageATL.

“It was an eye-opener for me as I was in a room packed with entrepreneurs and speakers like Ms. Sheron Lechter, Mr. Raymond Aaron and many others who were sharing some real good business strategies,” he said.

Terrence’s youth empowerment mission started when he saw the path many youths were on. “As youths, we can do anything we want to do if we believe in ourselves and take action. However, too many youths are not! That’s why I’m on this mission to inspire and empower my peers to do what’s necessary now to achieve success whilst we’re still young.”
