Authorities in New York have arrested and charged a man in connection with the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend. According to New York Post, officials said the suspect, identified as Isaac Argro, 22, shot and killed Azsia Johnson at point-blank range while she was pushing their 3-month-old daughter in a stroller.
The incident, which authorities said was a “premeditated execution”, happened last Wednesday. Argro has since been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree weapons possession. He appeared before a court on Saturday.
During the hearing, prosecutor Brittany DeCesare told Judge Eric Schumacher that Argro wore an all-black attire and a ski mask while he waited for his estranged girlfriend.
“This case can only be described as a premeditated execution,” Schumacher said.”The defendant persuaded the victim to meet after work and under the guise that he wanted to give the deceased items for their 3-month-old daughter.”
Authorities said Argro shot the 20-year-old victim in the back of the head. Johnson’s mother alleged Argro was abusive and stalked Johnson after she gave birth to their daughter. Johnson had also moved to a domestic violence shelter at the time of the fatal incident, FOX 5 New York reported.
The 3-month-old baby was unhurt in the shooting. She was, however, evaluated at a hospital, police said.
Following the shooting, authorities also said Argro got in touch with Johnson’s family to ask about the whereabouts of his daughter and threatened that an unidentified person was “next”, New York Post reported.
Argro’s next court appearance is on Thursday. He’s being held without bail.
