Nigerian Afro-pop singer Burna Boy has said in an interview that R&B singer Toni Braxton collected a huge paycheck, that is 60% of the royalties from his song “Last Last.”

The artiste made this known when he appeared on Gillie Da King’s Million Dollarz Worth Of Game podcast. They discussed a wide range of issues, including his rise to fame, family and his single “Last Last,” released in May.

“But she is taking 60% of the sh*t, so I’m not even complaining. Hopefully, she even pops out to one of the shows,” he said to cohost Wallo267, BET reports.

Burna Boy sampled Braxton’s 2000 R&B hit, “He Wasn’t Man Enough” and he eventually got music producer Chopsticks to make it happen.

The Afro-pop singer said he just wanted a hit track, adding that the single gave what it was supposed to give. He also told Wallo that he hopes to meet the “Breathe Again” songstress one day.

He further revealed that he had always desired to use Toni Braxton’s 2000 hit song “He Wasn’t Man Enough” in a sample.

“It was Chopsticks but that has always been my idea, to be honest. I knew he could do something crazy, I just pointed that sh*t out, and he took it from there. That’s one of the most special creative processes.”

“Last Last” has enjoyed massive success in both Nigeria and internationally. On YouTube, it has generated over 21 million views. It is one of the tracks in the 19-track “Love, Damini” album that is set to be released on July 8, 2022.

In 2021, Burna Boy clocked the enviable title of the first African artiste to have at least three albums being streamed 100 million times each on the global audio streaming service platform Spotify.

Burna Boy’s last three albums, African Giant, Outside and Twice As Tall, have each received the 100-million mark appreciation from listeners. This makes the Nigerian, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulum, the most sought-after Afrobeats star.
