Cleveland, Ohio can boast of another Black-owned film production and videography company courtesy of John Ford, Brian Wilson, and their uncle, Terry Coleman. They are the founders of Frameline Media Films. According to Black Business, they offer the best and most affordable wedding photography and videography services in the midwest.
John, 34, and Brian, 27, work as videographers while their uncle Terry works as the principal photographer. John describes himself as a passionate filmmaker and someone who loves telling stories through film.
According to him, he first picked the camera when he was only 4 years old and has never looked back. “I get to do what I enjoy for work and it doesn’t even feel like I’m working,” he noted on the company’s website.
He studied the art of filmmaking by looking at movies and wondered how they got the cinematic look. This led him to one day pick up his phone to shoot something for editing which was turned down, leading to the start of his photography career.
“So, that night I dug deep and started studying how to get that film look and that’s when I bought my first mirrorless camera. Till this day, I am still studying until one day I perfect the craft,” he said. John is married with three kids and credits his wife for his success as a filmmaker.
Brian, on the other hand, is living his dream as a videographer. Growing up as a kid, Brian said he had a love for filming and he had a YouTube channel where he made skits. Today, he makes beautiful cinematic wedding films and more.
“My love started from a young age watching movie after movie, loving how certain scenes were shot and always asking how did they get that shot. Years later I’ve taught myself how to film those movie shots I loved so much and put them in the videos I shoot now. I improved my skills daily through online courses and going out and learn firsthand. I started filming 4 years ago by getting a $400 starter camera and I haven’t looked back since. My goal is to make every video I make a movie for the customer and you’ll see how much I give my all in my work,” he said.
Terry, a father of four and a grandfather, decided to expand his technical skills into A/V in 2018. “My first wedding I recorded was so much fun I knew I had to see how far I can take this,” he said. “It’s one thing to view the bride and groom through the lens of my 1st video cam (Canon XA20) it’s another to see or hear them get excited about seeing themselves in pictures or video.”
The family business is currently based in the Cleveland, Ohio area, but it is also available for film projects and weddings all over the midwest, the south, and the entire east coast.
