In January this year, rapper Flo Rida was awarded $82.6 million after winning a lawsuit against energy drink company, Celsius. He dragged the company to court alleging that the firm violated the conditions of an endorsement deal that ran between 2014 and 2018.
According to Business Insider, a South Florida jury found Celsius guilty of breaching the deal, adding that the 43-year-old star was not properly compensated for helping to introduce the brand to “millions around the world.” Also, the jury held that Celsius had fraudulently hidden information from the rapper.
After a successful lawsuit that saw him compensated to the tune of $82 million, Flo Rida, whose legal name is Tramar Dillard, is set to launch an energy drink to rival Celsius. The drink, called JettSet1, is expected to start retailing in the first quarter of 2024.
“Coming from the success of Celsius, when they had no name and the marketing was very little, I took that product and I took it worldwide,” the rapper told Insider in an interview. “This is the thing that we wanna do with JettSet1.”
“I already know the field. Celsius is great, but at the same time, we want to take something and make it even greater, even healthier,” the “Low” rapper added.
According to him, the drink will be made with “healthy, responsible ingredients” and promises customers will “get the best out of their immune system.”
“Everyone knows me as a guy who works out,” Flo Rida explained to Insider. “You look at my music videos like ‘Good Feeling’ and they are a reflection of me and my healthy lifestyle. That’s what we want JettSet1 to be.”
The Atlanta Black Star reports that JettSet1 is a company with partnerships “in several industries, including biotech, health & wellness, beverages, real estate development, film, and television.”
Meanwhile, the Insider is reporting that the rapper is back in the studio working on a new track.
“Let me tell you something, I got some super amazing records coming out,” he said. “I’m one of those guys who always does nostalgia, just like the ‘Right Round’ record. I’ve got a new record coming called ‘What a Night.’ You know the Frankie Valli record? It samples that.”
