Authorities in Houston said a man fatally shot his on-and-off-again girlfriend in front of her three children. Per ABC13, 38-year-old Jameka Williams was killed by the suspect following an altercation on Friday night, Lt. Larry Crowson of the Houston Police Department said, adding that the man drove off in the wake of the fatal incident.

Family members also said Williams shares two of her four children with the suspect. The three children who witnessed the fatal shooting are aged 14, 12, and 7 years old. The teen is said to have called her aunt to inform her about the shooting.

“She stated, ‘My daddy just killed my momma,'” the victim’s sister, Jaterra Williams, said. “It hurts because the fact the kids had to experience a traumatic experience like that, and that’s the last memories they will see of their mother.”

Jaterra said Williams and her boyfriend had broken up not too long ago – though they had been in an on-and-off-again relationship since high school. She also said the suspect had gotten jealous before killing Williams because the victim was preparing for an outing with friends.

“When he saw her flat ironing her hair, getting ready to hang with friends, he said, ‘You’re not going anywhere. Today is the day,’ and that’s when he got the gun and pulled it out on her,” Jaterra said.

Family members also said the suspect had threatened Williams in the past, but the thought of him harming her did not cross their minds. “She showed me text messages where he was threatening her that he was going to kill her and whoever she is talking to,” said Jaterra.

“If a guy or girl is telling you they will hurt you or kill you or anything else, I would say leave after the first sign,” Jaterra added. “You have to believe it.”

A GoFundMe has since been set up to help raise funds for Williams’ children and mother. “My mom always talked about me graduating now that I am finally a senior,” Williams’s eldest son, Jayden, told ABC13. “It’s supposed to be me and her year. She always talked about my prom, coming to my games and watching me walk that stage as a senior. I’m not just a senior but a senior with honors.”
