LA Lakers’ center Christian Wood has fulfilled a 10-year promise he made to his mother, Jeanette Stewart, by buying his mom her dream home on New Year’s Day.

In a heartwarming Twitter post, the athlete said, “Life goal. Promised my mom at 18 with no money I would get her the house of her dreams before I’m 30. Fast forward to now, I did that!!! I love you.”

Wood made the promise to her while he was a teenager, promising to fulfill it before the age of 30. The young athlete, now 28 years old, has maintained his pledge. He also posted images of the sentimental event on social media, expressing his love for his mother.

Wood was born in Long Beach and grew up in Southern California until going to Findlay Prep in Nevada for his senior high school years, according to Lakers Nation

Jeanette was a single mother who raised Wood and provided for his two siblings. The accomplished basketball player endured the disappointment of going undrafted early in his career, according to Fade Away World

Nonetheless, his mother’s encouragement and faith in his aspirations motivated him to keep going.

She consoled him after the draft in a casino, assuring him that setbacks would not define his destiny.

Today, his path from struggle to success and the fulfillment of a promise to his mother is a personal accomplishment as well as a moving example of thankfulness and perseverance in the face of adversity.
