Poem: Rhythms

by Oni Abidemi Martins, 8:48am October 27, 2015,
War Dance of the Acholi

War Dance of the Acholi

Play to me non-stop

Soothing soul sounds to dance to

To erase the burning blaze

That burns fervently in my mind

Like the feel of the waiting waters

That sits by the dazzling foot

Of the flowing fountain of ikogunsi

Dance to me ceaseless

Seductive steps to see to

To appease the troubled spirit

That kicks restless in my soul

Like the sight of the gypsy

That is wished by scrambling hands

At the womanless festive night
