John Robbins earned a total of $100,000 recently on a scratch-off ticket. This is the second time the Wilmington resident has won the lottery, after winning $2 million on an Ultimate 7 ticket in May 2022.
He told the NC Lottery, “I was told lightning can’t strike twice but I guess it can.” He added, “I was definitely excited because I have some dreams I want to work on.”
Robbins’ extraordinary win came about when he purchased a $30 Black Titanium ticket at Han-Dee Hugo’s on North College Road in Wilmington, the same location where he won his initial big payout.

On June 3, he picked up his prize at lottery headquarters, and after federal and state taxes were deducted from his prize, he received $71,509.
Nonetheless, instead of spending his winnings on himself, the lucky man intends to do something for his community, which he has always been passionate about.
He expressed, “My dream is to make a difference in Wilmington.
“I want to give back to people here who are less fortunate. I want to do something to help change that,” Robbins added.
The Black Titanium game began in June last year with six $4 million top prizes and 16 $100,000 prizes. Three $4 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes are yet to be claimed.
