Cardi B has lashed out at critics accusing her of being paid to appear at a Kamala Harris campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The rapper addressed these claims amid controversy over celebrities receiving payment for campaign endorsements.
Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions was paid $1 million for a town hall event in Michigan where Winfrey endorsed Harris, according to Daily Mail.
Cardi B firmly denied receiving payment for her appearance at the Kamala Harris campaign rally, swearing on the lives of her three children to refute the claims.
“I didn’t get paid a dollar and that’s on my three!!” she wrote on social media in response to a question from conservative show host Candace Owens.
“I actually came out of pocket for glam and travel because it’s somewhere I wanted to be,” she said.
Addressing Owens, Cardi B added, “Like please girl you know damn well I’ll argue you down about politics FOR FREE.”
Other celebrities who endorsed Kamala Harris and participated in campaign events include Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, Lizzo, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Cardi B appeared at a rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in late October, where a teleprompter malfunction caused an awkward delay in her remarks.
After struggling for about a minute, she abandoned the prompter and used her phone to deliver her endorsement.
During her speech, Cardi B stated that she initially wasn’t planning to vote until Vice President Harris entered the race against “bully” Trump.
“She’s passionate, compassionate… and most of all she is not delusional,” she said.
Despite efforts to mobilize urban voters in Wisconsin, Trump defeated Harris in the swing state, securing 10 electoral votes.
Following Harris’s loss, Cardi B shared a video expressing her pride in the vice president, despite the disappointing outcome.
“She changed my mind, I feel like she was very honest, I feel like she said what I wanted to here,” she said, praising the vice president for “not playing f***ing games.”
“She woke this nation up,” she said.
Cardi B also lashed out at Republicans with an expletive-filled rant, telling them “burn your f**king hats.”
“Get away from me!” she shouted. “I’m sad. I’m really really sad.”
