American rapper Busta Rhymes has been charged with three counts of assault following an alleged altercation with his assistant over phone usage during work.

The 52-year-old hip-hop star, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., is accused of repeatedly punching his 50-year-old assistant, Dashiel Gables, in the face, leaving him with noticeable swelling around his left eye. The incident reportedly occurred on January 10 inside the upscale J Condominium in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

Rhymes turned himself in to authorities shortly after the altercation.

When contacted for comment on Thursday, Gables declined to discuss the case, citing legal advice.

“Maybe later. Maybe in the future. I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six- or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry,” he told The Post.

This is not the first time the Brooklyn-born rapper has faced legal troubles. Rhymes has a history of run-ins with law enforcement, including weapons charges, traffic violations, and assault cases.

In 2007, he was charged with DWI after police observed his SUV driving erratically in Manhattan. Eight years later, the “Break Ya Neck” artist was arrested for allegedly throwing a 17-ounce strawberry protein drink at a Chelsea gym employee, hitting the individual in the back of the head.

More recently, Rhymes made headlines for tossing a drink in the face of a fan who slapped him on the rear, an incident for which the fan later apologized publicly.

Rhymes is scheduled to appear in court on February 2 to address the latest allegations.
