The size 13 sneakers were worn by the NBA legend during the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game on April 12, 2013—a match that goes down as iconic in basketball history.
That was the game in which Bryant tore his Achilles in the fourth quarter but went on to stun fans by sinking two free throws before he limped off the court.

“There is no moment in Kobe’s career more emblematic of the ‘Mamba Mentality’ than the ‘Achilles Game,’ a testament to his unyielding commitment to excellence and competitive spirit,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s Head of Modern Collectibles, said in a statement.
“Although blessed with a natural gift for the game of basketball, what really set him apart from the competition was his unrelenting drive to make himself better every day,” Wachter added. “These game-worn sneakers encapsulate the remarkable fortitude that made him one of the greatest to ever play the game.”

The auction is set to begin on February 7, and it gives fans and collectors the chance to own a piece of basketball history tied to one of the most iconic moments of Bryant’s impeccable career.
