Jenny Saint Pierre, 25, made the news on Wednesday after she gave birth on a New York subway train. But there was a plot twist to her story after it made headlines as it was later discovered that she had been reported missing in Florida.

According to The New York Times, Jenny, a Hallandale Beach, Florida resident, was reported missing by her family in September. Authorities ultimately confirmed her as the missing individual after she gave birth on the train

Prior to her disappearance, Jenny was said to be about five to six months pregnant, CBS News reported in September 2024. Her sister, Stephania Saint Pierre, said Jenny’s ex-boyfriend told her that the last time they met was on August 5. She disappeared afterwards.

“He told me that they had an argument — a disagreement — and then she was angry and she left,” Stephania stated. Her sister’s ex-boyfriend is said to be the child’s father

After giving birth on the subway, Jenny was later transported to the Bellevue Hospital. A police spokesman said that both the 25-year-old and her newborn daughter were in a stable condition at the time, The New York Times reported.

Stephania also said she realized her sister was the woman who had conceived on the subway train in Manhattan after she saw the video on social media. “Oh, my God, look at her little face!” Stephania told the news outlet. “Oh, my God, I am going to cry! That’s my first niece!”

Stephania said she was unable to establish how her sister ended up in New York, adding that it came as a surprise to her. Stephania also said that on Tuesday, she coincidentally had a dream about her sister welcoming a child. She said she subsequently reached out to two Miami hospitals, but her sister had not been admitted to any of them.

“I dreamed it just this morning. And here she is, giving birth to a baby on a train,” she said. “I felt it, I knew it.”

An individual who witnessed the moment Jenny gave birth shared the video on TikTok. In the video, Jenny is seen lying on the floor while she’s surrounded by other bystanders who are assisting her.

“You’re headed to work and you witness someone giving birth on the train,” the bystander captioned in the video. “Only in NYC!”

Jenny’s mother, Chrismene Saint Pierre, also said she was excited about becoming a grandmother for the first time. She said she repeatedly watched the video.

“I’ve been thinking about my daughter every day, praying every day that she’s OK, that her baby is OK,” she said. “I’m going to sleep good tonight.”

Chrismene said their family will welcome Jenny back to Florida with open arms. “We will always be there for her, and for her baby,” she stated.

“This is another example of New Yorkers coming together to help each other, assisted by caring transit workers and other responders, reflecting the best of the subway community and this city,” the president of New York City Transit, Demetrius Crichlow, said in a statement.

“We are thrilled that both mother and Baby W are doing well, and look forward to welcoming both of them back aboard for a lifetime of reliable — and hopefully less dramatic — rides.”

The New York City subway became active in 1904. From that period, pregnant women have periodically given birth either on trains or station platforms, The New York Times reported.
