When Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, appeared in court on Tuesday wearing a blonde wig after sporting a black pixie cut the day before, one attorney made it clear that he was confused.
According to Rolling Stone, the rapper testified on Tuesday, August 26, following a 2020 lawsuit filed by a security guard who alleges Cardi assaulted her outside a Beverly Hills medical clinic in 2018. Cardi said that she felt cornered and had a “verbal altercation” but denied that there was a physical altercation.
During her testimony on the stand, the 32-year-old changed her hairstyle from a black pixie wig the day before to a long blonde wig, according to video footage released by Access Hollywood.
The lawyer, during his cross-examination, started by asking the “I Like It” singer if she had “black hair, blonde hair, or a different color hair” on the day of the alleged incident.

Cardi was unable to recollect, but she did tell the attorney she was wearing a hoodie. He continued to press her.
“Yesterday you had black hair, short hair. Today it’s blonde and long. Which one is your real hair? Or are they both real?” he asked her.
The “I Like It” rapper laughed before replying, “They’re wigs.”
“Okay. Sorry, I didn’t know that. It’s a good wig today, then,” the lawyer responded.
According to Rolling Stone, security guard Emani Ellis filed a complaint in 2020 alleging that Cardi spat on her, slashed her face with her fingernails, and physically assaulted her when Cardi was at the obstetrician’s office.
The outlet reported that Ellis, who worked at the office, started “wilding out” and seemed to be following and recording Cardi, who was then secretly expecting her first child with Migos rapper Offset.
Cardi stated that a “verbal altercation” started when she felt trapped, but it never turned violent, according to Rolling Stone.
“I didn’t touch her,” she repeatedly stated during the current trial, according to the publication. “It was like a verbal fight, but it didn’t get physical at all.”
Per the outlet, Cardi admitted to telling Ellis, “Bitch, get the f— out of my face.”
“We’re literally screaming at each other,” she said, according to Rolling Stone.
The BBC reports that the mother of two told jurors that Ellis, a security guard in the building, called someone to let them know she was there and then followed her down a hallway after Cardi exited an elevator.
The artist went on to say that Ellis appeared to record her on her phone, violated her privacy, and wouldn’t “back up,” leading to a “verbal altercation” in person.
Cardi’s lawyer stated that Cardi B “feared for her unborn baby” and accused Ellis of “changing your story”.
Ellis previously testified in court that she didn’t inform anyone Cardi was there or record her, but that she yelled the rapper’s name out of excitement when she saw her.
Ellis said the rapper threw insults and threats at her and attacked her after accusing her of trying to spread rumors that she was at the doctor’s office.
After evaluating Ellis in 2022, a plastic surgeon testified that he had treated her for a “hyper-sensitive” scar on her cheek that was “most likely” inflicted on by fingernails.
