The Detroit Pistons have officially named Big Sean as the franchise’s new Creative Director of Global Experience, widening a collaboration that blends music, basketball, fashion, and culture on an international level.
Big Sean’s new role was announced on World Basketball Day and is created to strengthen the Pistons’ impact on a global level, while remaining rooted in the franchise’s creative identity.
Big Sean is expected to work closely with the organization on global fan development, community engagement, and cultural storytelling in his new role to help introduce Detroit Basketball to new regions and audiences across the world.

The new partnership builds on momentum stemming from recent international programmes, including events in Mexico City, and will extend through cultural collaborations, international activations, and immersive fan experiences, Pistons says.
Team executives see Big Sean as a natural fit, and say his worldwide reach and deep ties to the city make it the right call.
As part of the expanded partnership, the Pistons and Big Sean also launched “Creatives Across Continents,” a global initiative inviting designers, artists, and cultural tastemakers from around the world to create original work inspired by Detroit Basketball.
Participants are expected to receive a creative prompt directly from Big Sean, with chosen designs forming a collaborative retail collection set to be unveiled next year, according to Complex.
“It’s been an honor to serve the Pistons community,” Big Sean said in a statement, adding that the new role allows him to spotlight Detroit talent on a larger stage while helping define what the culture of Detroit Basketball truly represents.
A Detroit native, Big Sean served as the Pistons’ Creative Director of Innovation many years ago and played in part in making in-game experiences, merchandise design, and community-focused activations lively.
Over the years, his collaborations with the team include co-branded practice jerseys, City Edition uniforms, and special events at Little Caesars Arena.
According to the Pistons, additional details tied to the partnership, including projects around NBA All-Star Weekend, 313 Day, and future retail and global creator opportunities, will be revealed in the coming months.
This is to tell the world that Big Sean’s influence on the franchise has only started, and is expected to be incredibly massive.
