Ahead of the August 8th general elections in Kenya, politicians across the country are ramping up the engines of their campaign machinery to ensure success at the polls.

The road to election victory in Kenya — like in much of Africa — can be quite an odyssey for politicians, their political parties, and supporters, providing an engaging spectacle for casual observers watching from the sidelines.

With many politicians shunning the lively political debates and hard talking TV interviews popular on the campaign trial of the West, campaign managers in Africa often adopt traditional methods, such as folk songs and dancing, as the vehicle of choice to reach voters particularly in rural areas and informal settlements.

Here, Face2Face Africa takes a look at several campaign strategies that African politicians need to adopt in order to ensure victory at the polls.
